Player & Community Wellbeing
At the Old Melburnians Football Club, our commitment to our players extends far beyond the field. We believe that the strength of our club lies not only in our on field performance but also in the holistic wellbeing of each and every member and player. We are deeply invested in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where both your physical and mental health are prioritised.
We understand the demands that come with playing competitive football but also life’s pressures, and we recognise the importance of providing our players with the resources and support they need to thrive both on and off the field. We are dedicated to creating a culture where seeking support is encouraged and readily available.
To ensure our players have access to comprehensive wellbeing services, we have established strong partnerships and internal support systems.
Dedicated Support and Resources.
VAFA Player Assistance Program
We are proud to be affiliated with the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) and their Player Assistance Program. This valuable resource provides access to a range of confidential and professional services designed to support your mental and emotional wellbeing.
VAFA Player Assistance Program:
We encourage all our players to explore the services offered through the VAFA, which include confidential counselling and support for a variety of personal and mental health challenges.
On-Site Support at the Frawley Centre
In addition to the VAFA's program, we are pleased to offer our players direct access to wellbeing support right here at the Frawley Centre through experienced consultant Seb Bentley. Seb offers a direct point of contact for any concerns you may have regarding your mental or emotional health.
Building a Stronger Community Together.
Our commitment to community and wellbeing is ongoing. We strive to create a culture of openness, empathy, and mutual support within the Old Melburnians Football Club. We believe that by looking after each other, both on and off the field, we can build a stronger, more resilient, and ultimately more successful club.
If you are experiencing any challenges or simply need someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to reach out to the resources mentioned above or speak to a trusted member of the club. Your wellbeing is our priority.
