A word from "The Tone"
We went to Crawford oval to face Uni Blacks who havent been playing too badly this season.
We went in the game under manned and unfit, but we started the 1st qrt with Josh Rundell kicking the 1st goal of the game in the first minute , then Sebastion Kemmerer Kicked another 2 straight after that and things started to look good. The Uni Blacks then got a couple and the game started to go their way.
In the 2nd qtr they blew the lead out to 6 goals.
Sebastian Kemmerer kicked his 3rd and our only goal for the 2nd quarter. At half time the boys were pretty pumped up saying "we aren't losing this, we need a big 2nd half".
So coach Tone bit the bullett and made a few changes , putting our best defender Campbell May on the ball, and he decided to turn the game around in the 2nd half.
Sebastian Kemmerer kicked his 4th and Ted Stobart snagged 2 with Sammy Gibbons slotting one on the run, mind you he sold candy to 4 players before kicking the goal.
At 3qrt time it was a 20 point ball game, and all i asked of the boys was "Give it everything you have got left in the tank, demand the footy, talk and the backline have to be tight and don't give your man an inch." In another masterstroke, half back flanker Alex Coleridge was sent to Centre Half Forward. He promptly kicked the first goal of the final term , and played a great quarter. Sebastion Kemmerer kicked his 5th , Jim Defegley kicked a left foot snap over his shoulder to put us in front by 2 points and the boys made some noise! When Uni Blacks kicked a goal to put them back in front with just minutes left on the clock, it looked like we may have had our first win stolen in the last seconds.
Our Ruckmen Justin De Stieger, who had killed the hitouts all day, smashed the ball in our forward line wich set Sebation Kemmerer up to kick his 6th goal and also put the unders back in front ... we were up by 2 , we kicked 2 quick behinds to put us up by 4 points , and with one more roll of the dice Blacks kicked the ball out of our forward 50 and in a 2 on 1 situation Cambell May took a deadset screamer which made the crowd and the OM's lose it. Coach TOne decalred it was one of the best Marks he had seen in 7 years as coach. Then the siren went. We had won!! The way the boys embraced each other at the end of the game , you would have thought we won the flag ... it was an amazing win ....
