The U/19 team ventured out to Brindisi Street to face St Bedes Mentone. The boys were looking to bounce back after a Round 1 defeat to Old Xavs. With coach Tone absent, Matty Collister stepped up to take the reins.
It was clear from the outset that St Bedes were going to provide very strong opposition, however our boys came out in the first quarter with a fantastic attack on the footy which was coupled with some really aggressive tackling.
Pleasingly, the OM’s were able to sustain this aggressive approach for the duration of the match, with onballers Nick Voyage and Nick Madders working tirelessly in the midfield all day.
In the end though the scoreboard revealed a 111-point win to St Bedes Mentone, however the boys can certainly hold their heads high knowing they had a real crack against a very talented and hard-working St Bedes Mentone unit.
I am sure that if the boys continue to play in this spirit then the first win for the season will not be far away!
