SENIORS – OMFC account for Rovers and secure top Spot
Hampton Rovers travelled to the Junction with some confidence last Saturday, having run us to a couple of goals at the previous encounter, and with a win last week which took them off the bottom of the ladder and into 7th place. Their late season resurgence was however, short-lived, with another solid 4 quarter performance from the OM’s sending them back into relegation calculations with a 77 point thumping. OM’s are running into some impressive form at the right time and the on ball brigade again made life difficult for the opposition.

Just one round to play, and despite the danger game at University, OM’s appear to have locked away top place, and at the very least have made the double chance a certainty. Trinity’s win over Blacks last week appears to have secured them the place in the finals – only a huge loss by OM’s at Uni and a surprise upset by Carey over Trinity could change the inlusions in the Top 4. What is up for grabs is 2nd place, with a massive clash between St Bernards and St Kevins at Righetti Oval. Last week, Bernards lost at home to Haileybury, whilst SKEVS came from 28 points down at the last change to beat bottom placed Camberwell. At the other end, Ormond v Rovers means one of those sides will survive, whilst Camberwell need to upset Haileybury to craft an unlikely escape.
Ressies continue winning ways
With one round remainng the 2nds sit 3 games clear, following a 100 point thrashing of Rovers on the weekend. Another minor premiership for the club, and more importantly, the whole senior list will be involved in finals action.

Enjoying an early morning start on the Junction, the Under 19’s took on 2nd placed Ormond in a perfect tune up prior to the finals. After an even first half, the OM’s kicked away as the game progressed, and with 4 goals from Al Armstrong, went on to win by 21 points. Congratulations for being Minor Premiers for 2009, 2 games clear on top with a percentage of 240. Incredibly for Ormond, the loss dropped them to 5th and sees them miss the finals!!
OM’s take on Old Brighton this Saturday in a 2nd Semi Final, 2.15pm at Elsternwick Park. The other final sees St Kevins play De La Salle. Good luck to the boys as they seek a place in the Grand Final and a week’s rest to prepare.
