The OMFC returned to the winners list on a grey Saturday afternoon at the Junction Oval this weekend. In blustery and cold conditions, the OM’s proved too strong for a dogged Old Carey, who managed to stay dangerously within reach of the OM’s for most of the day.

The lead was just 21 points at the last change and Old Carey were kicking with a strong breeze, and after kicking the first of the quarter had their confidence up. However OM’s ended up doing more of the attacking moving the ball well into the breeze, to run away with a 30 point win. A good crowd was satisfied with the win, but left still craving a solid 4-quarter effort.

OLD MELBURNIANS 2.3 4.6 7.10 9.13-67
OLD CAREY 1.3 2.5 4.7 5.7-37
Goal Kickers: S. Beaumont 2, M. Davis 2, J. Beaumont, A. Lapin, T. Paule, T. Seccull, S. Greene
Best Players: J. Freezer, H. Turner, A. Prowse, A. Lapin, L. Haralambous, C. Wilmoth
The victory, together with a 5 goal win by St Bernard’s over St Kevin’s, sees OMFC move back into 2nd spot, and the battle for bragging rights in B Section is turning out to be a very even contest.
This week OM’s are back at the Junction, taking on a Uni Black’s side that last week succumbed to Old Trinity in a see-sawing struggle at the Uni. Old Trinity move into the Top 4 whilst Blacks will be desperate to stay in touch. Another tight battle is expected.
