OMFC TAKES TOP SPOT AFTER ROUND 1 WIN
Following a pre-season which heralded so much promise, the OMFC delivered in spades on Saturday. On a fine afternoon, with the Junction Oval in brilliant condition, OMFC stamped itself on the game early; kicking 7 of the first eight goals. Another 13 goals to three before three quarter time and the game was all but won. Despite Old Camberwell kicking 5 goals in the last quarter, the OM’s ran out impressive 80 point winners. This was a very even effort across the board, and pleasing that the list of goal-kickers and best players included a mixture of older players and our new recruits.
OLD MELBURNIANS 7.5 13.6 20.10 22.11-143
OLD CAMBERWELL 1.0 3.1 4.1 9.9-63
Goal Kickers: T. Davis 4, W. Harvey 3, C. Gardiner 3, E. Wilson 2, T. Seccull 2, C. Wilmoth 2, B. McKie, J. Beaumont, A. Lapin, H. Turner, T. Paule, S. Greene
Best Players: M. Davis, A. Lapin, T. Bachet, W. Harvey, A. Prowse, J. Mitchell
In a fantastic start to the season, we now sit on top of the B Grade ladder with an impressive percentage of 200%. This week the side travels to Old Trinity full of confidence. Returning to B Grade from A Section, Old Trinity was impressive in beating the “Saints-studded” Old Haileybury (including Robert Harvey’s VAFA debut), so this looms as a crucial game in the shaping of the early part of this season.
Note:
Next OMFC Home Game isn’t until May 9th, Round 4 vs Old Haileybury.
The Club will host a lunch on this day, celebrating the 50 year anniversary of the 1959 B Grade Premiership, coached Andrew Ramsden. Keep the Day Free!!
