Result OM’s 15-17-107 — defeated Beaumaris 10-8 -68

After losing our first match to Beaumaris by 2 points the boys were keen to make amends and with the wind playing a significant part to this game anybody kicking with it in the first quarter needed to make the most of it and that’s what we did. A 40 point lead at the 1st change was always going to be hard for Beaumaris to run down with OM’s flexing there muscle at various times with some new additions.

Beaumaris did work hard in the 2nd quarter when they had a 10 minute patch and kicked goals but these were also answered quickly with a couple from the OM’s.

Our back 6 were once again very strong and with Sartori, Webb, McLardy, Oaten, and Cumbrae Stewart adding bite around the packs we were able to hold our ground and kick away from a persistent Beaumaris.

Zayler and Petsinis did some useful things whilst Myer, Harris and Ferguson were there when it was needed.

With a couple of upsets over the last month in the division sees OM’s and Caulfield sitting one and two and likely 2nd semi opponents in two weeks time at Brindisi Park in Mentone.

Finals football always brings out the best in players and overall the group is responding positively after a long year but with our rotation policy working well with a number of players being rested at various times of the year.

We have a host of players who have returned from injury we are starting to run into good form even with the loss to Ormond last week which by the way was a cracker of a match.  The result could have been very different and with an ounce of luck but nevertheless not something to concern ourselves with now.

This week we play Oakleigh at the Junction who will come out and will endeavour to finish of the season well after a disappointing year for them. We will need to be at our best to counter this.
