WAYWARD KICKING BLOWS CHANCE TO JUMP 4 SPOTS

There was a huge build up to the OM’s clash on the Junction on Saturday, and the crowd that turned out was reminiscent of another recent bottom of the ladder clash, the last round fight for survival in 2007.  This time unfortunately it was the OM’s who despite controlling much of the play, never could put the Old Caulfield Grammarians away.  Ten scoring shots in the first term could have provided our best start to a match for the year, but 3.7 saw us trail by 6 points at quarter time. By half time, straight shooting Caulfield were 8.2 to our 5.10, and the huge crowd, estimated by some to be around 1000, sensed a classic match was unfolding.  OM’s played a great third quarter but again squandered opportunities, and a late goal in the third term saw the visitors take a 3point lead into the last change.  The first goal of the last quarter was critical, and it was Caulfield who bagged it, never looking back and kicking four goals to one to run out winners by 21 points.  OM’s best was Will Kiel, and Heath Thompson bagged three goals at full forward.  The loss sees OM’s sitting on the bottom of the B Section ladder, but 4 sides still have 2 wins and are separated by less than 10%.  This weekend sees the chance to refresh and regroup over the long weekend, before facing Marcellin to complete the first half of the home and away season.

THANKS CRAZY!

The team from Crazy John’s certainly helped to build the atmosphere on Saturday, giving away a Blackberry at the pre-game lunch, and two phones throughout the day to spectators.  Crazy himself was a huge hit with the kids. Thanks to Katrina and Chanara and their crew of helpers for their support of the OMFC.
