A promising start frittered away and all to play for this week. Still, the Stars have worked hard to get the double chance, so deserve the opportunity for redemption afforded to them this week against Prahran.

The 2nd semi final was very much played in 2 halves. The Stars outstanding in the first half, albeit undoing some of their great work by conceding 2 goals late to the Crocs. Everything discussed pre-match had come to fruition: intensity at the ball and the man, hard running and smart football. At one stage the Stars lead ballooned to a fraction under 5 goals and the larger pro-Stars crowd found voice.

As quickly as this happened it vanished in the 2nd half. While some intensity remained, a lack of accountability and willingness to work hard proved the Stars undoing. The Crocs ran wild and free, building an ultimately insurmountable lead before running out comfortable 31 point winners.

A lesson learned for the Stars. Although falling short there were a number of positives on the day with the 1st half the obvious one. The fact that many players got their first taste of Elsternwick can also only help the cause going forward, the continuity of this week a real advantage on our opponents. To borrow from the racing vernacular, there is little doubt the Stars are better for the finals run.

With a pulsating draw against Prahran just 2 weeks ago in a game that the Stars dominated, the Preliminary Final rematch should be a beauty. Thanks to all at the OMFC for their support last weekend. We hope to get it again this week and promise a better ending!
