:: All Stars Report - By Thomo.
Keen to bounce back from last week’s devastating loss on the road the All Stars would again face a potential finals contender in Uni Blues. With the Stars back at home on the beloved Oval 1 and playing conditions near perfect confidence was high preceding the opening bounce.
The opening minutes would highlight this as the Stars were able to pile on two consecutive goals from the boots of Neddy and Hursty. Although it had been a dream start for the Stars Uni soon found their run reducing the margin to a mere 3 pts at quarter time. The Second quarter continued on from the first with both teams locked in an armwrestle for control of the game. Whenever the Stars managed to snag a goal Uni seemed to have the answer straight away. By the main break Uni were still within one goal of the lead.
The third would see the Stars gain a 20 pt buffer early into the quarter before Uni once again were able to claw themselves back into the contest. By the last change the Stars had slightly streched their lead with Uni two kicks off the pace.
The Final quarter would see a more free flowing attacking contest. A case of taking your opportunities unfolded as Uni had several superb chances to grab the lead but were unable to convert while down the other end Tandy found his range drilling home a 40+ metre monster. By the time Stu nailed his 4th goal in a best on ground performance the game was well and truly out of Uni’s reach with the All Stars getting home by 12 pts.
Back in 2nd on percentage the Stars now face 3rd place Prahran on Oval 1 in the last round of the season. The stakes could not be higher with the victor guranteed 2nd place and a double-chance in the finals.
