Round 5: Unders V Brighton

May 26th, 2007

:: Under 19’s Report - By Doc.

The junction provides the perfect lesson for the young mould. Its wide expanses and pristine surface provide a mass of space in which you can choose to hide or thrive and the Unders this week couldn’t make up their mind.

4 goals to nothing in the first against a very strong breeze was not the start we wanted, but nonetheless the effort seemed to be there, the result to follow.

The second saw Milledge create the hit of the day when he wandered into a Tonner and walked away much the better. It¹s amazing what you can do when you really have no idea what¹s going on around you. 5 goals to 1 and the scores were locked at half time.

Super coach employed a flood in the third and with great resolve the Unders kept the Tonners to 2 goals and kicked one themselves. A four goal breeze behind your back, it seemed time to push to the line.

Lesson #2 * Never let anyone do anything for you, that you can do for yourself.

If you wait to see what happens, you might as well be a spectator*. And spectate we did as Brighton went onto to kick 7 into a breeze that had now abated. Cruel Folly!

The achievements you will truly appreciate in life are those you have toiled hardest for. We’re just not working hardest.
