Call Me Archie has given our Whiteboard Warrior a much needed lift after the debacles that were the King-sized Magnets and Walkie-talkie Fiasco and the injuries suffered by the Bulldogs, writes The Red Leg.

It’s approaching half-time against Old Xavs and the moment Archie has feared but looked forward to since he swapped his magic beans for a precocious
filly.

Decked out splendidly in his Armani suit, Archie approaches a fiery Dean Rice, who has just watched his team turn into Dr Jekyll after a splendid
first term.

"It’s 2:45 and I have to leave you for the 3:30 at Caulfield," our Whiteboard Warrior explains to the coach.

After receiving a stare that could cut through steel, Archie, his Armani suit slightly soiled by the harrowing experience, hands over the magnets to
the MC and trudges off with his binoculars.

The minute he steps into Caulfield Racecourse, the famous spring in his step is back, and after Call Me Archie salutes, the OMs are the furthest thing
from his mind.

Five nights later at selection and it is Archie’s turn to atone. He has prepared a set of jumbo-sized magnets and stolen a walkie-talkie from the
local primary school.

"Hey Dean, look what I’ve got," said the Whiteboard Warrior with the enthusiasm of a kid who has just collected an award-winning show bag.

"What use have I got with these massive magnets and this bloody phone?" Dean asks.

"You sit right next to me and I can talk to the runner whenever I want."

"I know," Archie retorts. "But I feel I let you down. I’m hurting. I really am and lifting the only way I know how."

"Rocket’s blaming me for the injuries at the Kennel. But they’re not my fault. Apart from joke I played on Darce when I loosened up some turf in the forward line, they were beyond my control."

"I did dare Rocca to throw Murph around after he hid my magnets but I didn’t think his knee was that weak."

"Look Archie," Dean says. "I don’t have time for your sob stories. Give me the magnets, find me some matchups and for God’s sake, stop wearing those
bloody shorts to training. Half my team are kids and you’re scaring them away."
